Clay & Titus Lessley, Kansas City USA
Clay participated during spring-break on the Missionary Trip together with his 11-year-old son Titus. Initially, he came to participate in the evangelistic outreach but when he saw the construction team, Clay, an owner of a roofing company, was encouraged to participate with them on Tuesday and Wednesday in the construction of a house for a family in need. In less than 5 days the missionary construction team managed to build the exterior and interior walls, all the electrical installation, the roof, the windows, and the doors!

We asked Clay to share a little about his testimony and what he experienced during the mission trip:
“I am an American who came down for a short-term mission trip, and before meeting Jesus, I was lost, living in sin. But God changed everything with one touch of His love. Participating in the VCH Mission Trip was absolutely incredible. The community of students and staff left a lasting impression on me. Jesus said, ‘The world will know us by our love,’ and that’s exactly what I witnessed. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible! What impacted me most was seeing the tears of a family in their new home that we had built. I was also moved by watching the IHI students step out boldly in their faith and seeing how the staff so selflessly served us.VCH in Nuevo Laredo is truly a city on a hill—a shining light in a dark place.” He said

Clay is eager to participate in the VCH Mission Trip again and encourages others to take that step of faith. ‘Just do it. Take a step of faith. Take off work. You will not be disappointed,’ he shared with us. While Clay was busy with construction on Tuesday and Wednesday, his son, Titus, joined the VCH staff and American missionaries to participate in the evangelistic outreaches. Though nervous because it was his first time sharing the Gospel, Titus was open and willing to be guided by the Holy Spirit. As they prayed for a lady, Titus suddenly heard the word ‘anxiety.’ At first, he wasn’t sure where the thought came from, and in fact, he didn’t even know the meaning of the word. But he knew it was God speaking to him about the woman’s condition. With faith, Titus asked her if she struggled with anxiety, and through tears, she answered, ‘Yes.’ They told her that God wanted to free her from all anxiety, and they prayed for her, asking for God’s peace to set her free. This moment reminds us that God is willing to use us, no matter our age or experience. An obedient and willing heart is all that’s needed to hear His voice, bring healing, and advance His Kingdom on earth.
