And he called unto him the multitude with his disciples, and said unto them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Mark 8:34 ASV)
Whoever loses his life for me (Jesus) and for the Gospel (G
od’s good news of love and rescue and real relationship) will save his life. What good is it to gain stuff and loose purpose, the real purpose and that is to know God and make Him known. What good is it to gain the world – only self gradification, having it your way and not God’s. It will cost you your soul – your mind – your will – your emotions. Question? Is having it your way, receiving the credit, glory, is that worth your soul? Your marraige? Your true peace? Being right- but losing in the end. Blaming the other “guy” instead of looking at yourself through the mirror of the Word of God.
I want to deny myself and keep taking up the cross. It’s weight on me reminds me to die to self. Jesus’s goal on earth was to do the will of the Father, what God wanted. If I lose my life for Jesus and the Gospel….I WILL SAVE MY LIFE. It’s about the eternal not the temporal that I live for. So I will take up my cross today again. The prize out weighs the price!
